Stem Cell Biology Lecturer

Human adipose derived stem cells (ASC) are of interest to the field of regenerative medicine. They are easily accessed, are capable of differentiating into a number of different cell types and can promote wound healing and immunosuppression. We are developing clinically relevant methods to isolate potent stem cells with higher differentiation potential and bioactivity than currently used techniques. In addition we are examining the molecular mechanisms that underpin their `steminess’ to help to understand how we can expand these cells and maintain them in their most potent state.
