I currently lead the Pelvic Floor research group at the Auckland Bioengineering institute. Our goals are to develop a better understanding of pelvic floor muscle disorders, including urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse in women. Part of our approach is to develop new smart devices for self-monitoring of pelvic floor muscle exercises, which are known to be an effective first line treatment for many women. The aim is to facilitate conservative management of these disorders by ensuring correct performance of the exercises and encourage long term adherence. The PFR groups comprises a team of world renowned bioengineers, clinical expertise as well as international collaborators who can assist at all levels of development.
