Professor Peter McNair

Health and Rehabilitation Research Institute

Professor Peter McNair is the Director of the Health and Rehabilitation Research Institute at AUT. The institute’s research integrates the physical and psychosocial dimensions of rehabilitation with the goal of enhancing activities of daily living, work and sports, particularly in patients with musculoskeletal and neurological disorders. McNair’s work is focused on biomechanics, particularly joint injuries and arthritis. His laboratory work involves electromyography, 3-D motion analysis, and analyses of joint loading. His clinical research involves exercise rehabilitation, chronic pain, and the in-vivo analyses of extensibility of the soft tissues such as muscle and tendon.
