My research has been primarily focused on developing image-based integrative physiological models of the heart, which enable detailed analyses of cardiac mechanical function on an individualised basis. This type of analysis framework can provide insight into mechanical function of the heart on a subject-specific basis, in particular quantifying muscle stiffness and contractility. Personalised analyses of cardiac function can not only improve our understanding of the mechanisms underpinning cardiac dysfunction, but also contribute to designing new biomarkers for assessing cardiac muscle intrinsic mechanical properties which can potentially give rise to more accurate and efficient clinical diagnosis for patients with heart failure.
